Previously Published Data 1.) Students use a graph to discover the favorite colors of the class. They draw a shape, color it with their favorite color, cut it out, then tape their colored shape on the graph, under the name of the color which they chose to be their favorite. Students answer: "What is the favorite color in this classroom? What is the least favorite color?" 2.) Students make simple patterns using pattern blocks and linking cubes. Posted on the board are three patterns: ABABAB, AABBAABBAABB and ABCABCABC. Students use manipulatives to make these patterns and record their patterns on paper using crayons or colored markers. |
Previously Published Data Assessment is done on an individual basis by teacher/ helper with the students. 1.) Using graphs created during the week, students will answer questions such as: "How many birthdays are there in the month of March? What month has the most boys' birthdays in it?" Students will think of a question to pose to the teacher/ helper about a graph of their choice. 2.) Students go on a trash walk and collect at least 10 items of trash. When they return to the classroom they place their items of trash on a floor graph that reads: paper/ metal/ plastic. Do not allow students to collect glass objects. 3.) Shown a drawing of a simple pattern that is covered in the middle by a piece of paper, students will tell the teacher/ helper what pattern they think is underneath. |
