Previously Published Data

1.) Students will work together to assemble a variety of effective strategies for solving rational expressions. They will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each strategy. They will present their strategies in a form appropriate to display in the classroom.

2.) Students will analyze word problems to see what steps they need to take to solve a particular problem.
3.) Students will work in groups to solve word problems. They will show the steps they used to solve the problem on large poster paper report to the class.

Previously Published Data

1.) Pairs of students will create a word problem involving rational expressions. Another pair will critique and solve the problem.

2.) Students can describe more than one strategy for solving basic operations with rational expressions and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each.
3.) Students will compare the similarities and differences of operations on algebraic fractions with simple fractions, using examples.
