Previously Published Data 1.) Students will solve problems requiring the correct use of the Order of Operations and justify each step in the process: 4 + (2 x 3)/2 = (4 + 16)/2 + 3 x 5 = 5 + 4/2 = 17 + 3 x 2(2) = 2.) Students will solve problems involving variables: 3 + x = 7 4(4) = y 24 - n = 19 3x = 21 3.) Students will solve problems involving algebraic expressions with three variables. Students will write the algebraic expression and then solve the problem. For example: If a woman is paid $7.25 per hour and works 32 hours per week, how much will her weekly earnings be? How much would she earn if she worked 35 hours? 40 hours? |
Previously Published Data 1.) In their Mathematics Journals, students
explain the Order of Operations and why it is important to use this agreed-upon
order. Students will discuss the steps involved in the order.
