Previously Published Data 1.) Using different amounts of money taken from a box of play coins, students will record the coins by denomination on a tally sheet, using decimal notation, and show the total value, subtract the amount of goods bought, and count and record their change. 2.) Students will add coins showing all of the different ways to make $0.15, $0.25, $0.50, etc., using a tally sheet. 3.) Students will use grocery store ad cards to shop for goods, given different budgets to spend, record on their shopping list, items bought, their cost, and a running balance. Students may use calculators as cash registers or to check their work when subtracting money they spend from their budget. |
Previously Published Data 1.) Students will use pictures, words, symbols, and numbers to show how many ways to make $0.25, $0.50, and $0.97. They will identify the total number of coins for each amount. 2.) Students will explain in their Mathematics Journals the correct symbols to use when noting money. They will also show ways to set up addition and subtraction problems involving money so that the decimals are placed correctly.
