Previously Published Data 1.) Students will work individually on setting up word problems, using manipulatives or sketches. They explain their reasoning. 2.) Using pattern blocks, students will make straight roads and roads that turn a corner using two different types of blocks, three different types of blocks, record and explain their experience. 3.) Students will build a border around an 8 x 11 piece of paper. They will predict which shapes will use the fewest number and greatest number of blocks. 4.) In groups of 4, students will decide how to set up a variety of word problems. They may use manipulatives or sketches, and explain their reasoning. |
Previously Published Data 1.) Students will form a border around a selected object. Given a variety of manipulatives, students will decide which to use to build the border with the fewest items and the most items. 2.) Given a variety of word problems, students will indicate different strategies for setting up and solving the problem, and select and describe the one they think is best.
