1.) After listening to the teacher model a Young Adult Author Speech, have students pick an author and begin their research in the library. By completing the "Author Speech Organization Sheet" students will be organizing and forming their speeches. Have students read material by their chosen author, take notes on note cards, and practice their speeches for presentation. On the appointed presentation day, students should have their completed organization sheet, their note cards, and at least one piece of literature from the author to share with the audience. Students in the audience should have paper and pen ready to make a suggested reading list based on the titles and authors that are presented. Once all of the speeches are completed, students will write a reflection on the experience and their own performance.

Have student read story orally.
