1.) The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis.

1.) Storyteller's Map: 

As a way to understand a character and his/ her importance in the plot and resolution of the story, have students fill in a story teller's map on an assigned character. The map should include the following topics:

  • The character 
  • The personality of the character 
  • What does the main character wish to do or achieve? 
  • What problem/ conflict does the main character have? 
  • What are plot actions to achieve goal? 
  • Describe major plot points in order 
  • Write about the resolution of the conflict

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the literature piece 
  • Includes accurate choice of important events 
  • Reveals insight into characters, with accurate details 
  • Is well written with correct conventions 
  • From the essay, the reader can understand more about the character's importance in the plot and the resolution of the conflict
