1.) Newspapers, magazine articles, television programs.

1.) Current Events Presentation: Find a newspaper article, magazine article, or a television program about an important current event. After studying the presentation, have students complete an outline of important information to be shared in their oral presentation to the class. Students should attach the article to their report

Current Events Report Form:

  • Source (television, radio, newspaper, etc.)
  • Date and location Draw a map of the area in which the event happened.
  • Be able to show the location on a larger map. 
  • Summarize the event in at least five sentences. 
  • Include information about people, animals, or things involved (who? what? where? when? how? why?) 
  • Describe your reaction to the event (your feelings or opinions about the event in at least three sentences). 
  • Pose a question or present an idea that is thought provoking to wrap up your report.
  • As students present, have other students listen critically to the newscast. Share compliments and constructive criticism afterwards. Eventually, tape record each student.

  • 1.) Commercial Presentation Criteria: Check each item if it was included.
