After reading Chapters 15 through 17, each student will choose a group of people to research through the use of the Internet, books, media, and interviews. Some suggested groups are: Vietnamese, Iranis, Salvadorans, African American, Latinos, Hawaiian, Cuban, Chinese, Eskimo, American Indian, Japanese, Indian and Korean. Student will present background information to the class about the group and how the group contributed to the cultural diversity of California. Student should include at least one problem that this group encountered when they migrated to California. Student should discuss whether a resolution to this problem has been found. Student will also share with the class one of the following: food, art, music or dance. A one page paper will accompany the oral presentation, but emphasis should be on the presentation and the information contained therein. |
Use a general rubric that addresses both an oral and written presentation.
