Previously Published Data 1.) Students will define the following terms: secede, fugitive, Appomattox, abstain, sovereignty, blockade, emancipate, sectionalism, slavery, Underground Railroad, compromise, abolitionists, rebel, regiments 2.) To prepare their presentation students will research books and the internet on their assigned cooperative project. Students will present and teach the rest of the class key learnings from their assigned project. 3.) Students will research and share songs of the times, and explain the message of the song to the class. 4.) Individually or with a partner, students will choose one of the following and design a poster and write a report: Harriet Tubman, Dred Scott, Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, Clara Barton, Ulysses S. Grant, Matthew Brady, David Farragot, William Seward, Stephen Foster, Stephen A. Douglas, Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, John Brown, Robert E. Lee, Thomas W. Serman, Mary Todd Lincoln, John Wilkes Booth, George Meade, Stonewall Jackson. 5.) Using a Venn Diagram, students will list the similarities and differences between Civil War and modern day warfare. 6.) Write a paper on the effects of the Civil War on the lives of Americans. |
