1.  Collection of Young Scholars, Volume 1, Book 1
Unit:  Game.
Open Court Publishing.
The stories from this unit will teach students the elements of fair play and good sportsmanship, respect for the rights and opinions of others, and respect for rules.

The following is a list of some book titles that could be used to tie literature with the social studies standard.  Other titles can be found in Literature for History-Social Science, Kindergarten Through Grade Eight, by the California Department of Education, 1993.

A delightful class plans a play, but problems arise when Jim doesn't get the part he wants.  Friendship wins the day, and the play is a success.
