 School Facilities

Summary of Most Recent Site Inspection

The site is inspected on a regular basis. Our maintenance team inspects and makes repair suggestions to the district office.

Repairs Needed

The facility was built in 1968. It is not energy efficient. Maintenance workers are continually looking for ways to conserve energy and lower costs. Work will be done next year to repair the roof and possibly replace the carpets.

Corrective Actions Taken or Planned

No corrective actions necessary.

School Description and Mission Statement

Loyalton Elementary School’s vision is to develop students who have learned to think, to understand concepts and ideas, to apply what they have learned, and are able to pose questions and to solve problems. Our goal is to develop life-long learners who are prepared for life as citizens in the 21st century.

Our mission is to provide a primary education with a goal of all children achieving literacy. We provide children with the tools to encourage their total development, enhance their self-esteem, and realize their potential in a safe, secure environment.

Opportunities for Parental Involvement

Loyalton Elementary School practices and “open door” policy. Provided they check in at the office, parents may visit their child’s classroom any time. We ask that parents that wish to volunteer on a regular basis have their fingerprints cleared through the district office (at no cost to them).

Loyalton Elementary’s parent organization is called the Grizzly Cub Parent Club or GCPC. They are here to help provide field trip experiences, help with materials and supplies and overall moral support for teachers and staff. The club is always on the lookout for new members and welcome “new blood.” Kathy Bertagnolli is the current president. Contact the school for contact information.

School Discipline Practices

Loyalton Elementary is a PeaceBuilder school. PeaceBuilders is a positive disciplinary strategy used from kindergarten through sixth grade. . PeaceBuilders is a program designed to help create an environment that reduces violence and establishes a more peaceful way of living in our school and community. It affects the whole school by increasing cooperation, achievement, long-tem vision and individual success. Peaceful behavior becomes an integral part of everyone’s life-students, staff, teachers, and parents.

The PowerSchool management tool has also helped with discipline. Loyalton Elementary School uses a citation system to track student behavior. When a student receives a citation, his/her teacher uses our PowerSchool management program to log the citation into the discipline section. As soon as a log entry is made, an email is sent to the principal. The principal can then keep track of chronic rule breakers.

III. School Facilities

School Facility Conditions and Improvements

Loyalton Elementary School was constructed in 1968. Through the hard work and dedication of the maintenance and custodial staff, the cleanliness and condition of the school grounds, buildings and restrooms is good. The school is not very energy efficient, but to retrofit for energy efficiency would be a very large project. Routine repair of the roof is planned, as is replacement of carpet.
