ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

 

JOB TITLE: Teacher - Opportunity Classroom, Grades 1 through 8

(program continuation past 2007-2008 school year based on State funding)

 

POSITION ASSIGNMENT: Downieville School, Downieville, CA, for the Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District, full time.

TERM: 182 day school year; traditional school calendar

SALARY: Appropriate placement on Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District certificated salary schedule, $39,520 - $48,150, beginning salary with credential, based on experience and post graduate units. Health benefits, sick leave, CalSTRS

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Provides core instruction appropriate for students who are unsuccessful in traditional school environment and may benefit in a self-contained classroom for a portion of the day. Develops and adjusts special instructional techniques to ensure student success. Evaluates students’ progress and prepares individual student reports. Prepares and maintains student attendance, ISP contracts, and student records. Participates in IEP meetings and communicates with parents/guardians to enhance the relationship between school and home. Shares in the supervision of student activities and performs necessary non-teaching duties, participates in faculty committees and school planning. Employee reports to the school site administrator. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university and appropriate California credential allowing instruction in the assigned program. Must have knowledge of California Education Code and State curriculum standards. Instructor must have the ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing. Pre-employment physical and Department of Justice fingerprint clearance required prior to employment. Current California Driver’s License also required. Candidate should meet No Child Left Behind compliance standards.

 

DESIRABLE QUALITIES Training in behavior management and ability to deal effectively with and exercise reasonable judgment with at-risk youth. Person should possess strong organizational, curriculum development and planning skills. Must have the ability to interact with and maintain cooperative relationships with all levels of staff, parents, students and community. Prefer a candidate with a two years teaching experience.
